Newark winter series

So after the Louth warm up event, I finished preparing my xray x4 24 for the new event. During the time I had spoken to some xray teams about setup and I felt confident what I had going forward.

So we got to Newark in good time, made sure I was booked in and the car was above all the right requirements.

Looking at the heat list I believed in myself to be one of the favourites to take victory or be in a podium fight.

Practice and q1 was horrendous, grip I never thought was possible on this type of carpet.

Q2 we made some changes to the car and it was a lot better, but for some strange reason my rear body posts both came out and left me loose.

Q3 again changes to the car with the grip now picking up, and I was on for a top three place when, I made a mistake which in the end cost me a run.

Q4 I needed this run to at least make the top two races, I was on for the top but a body tuck caused me to lose time. I was back up to p2 and honing in on p1 but a back marker didn’t understand to move aside

For the two finals we made changes due to the grip. The car started well and I made it to the front but as the race went on the rear of my car started to get loose. So much so mistakes happened and I ended up fourth.

Back in the bits and one of the rear screws holding the wishbone had come loose, explains it.

More changes for the last run, but was short lived, as my bodyshell kept ticking under load. And I didn’t see any point in continuing or getting in people way.

So I finished 7th. Had I of prepped and been better prepared I feel it’s an event I could have won. But shoulda, woulda, coulda. So now it’s back to preparing for my Louth events. And it’s full prep on them. As I want to do well, and feel it’s gonna be tight this year

In good news the Louth club now has a regular weekly racing, and im stoked for that
