It’s been another three weeks since the last race meeting and Facebook post. In the lead up to the meeting I had to prep my car a good week in advance due to being away on holiday.
And it was also all about tyres. As many at the Louth club expressed a change of tyres from what we currently use.
On the day it was five qualifying runs but on a ftd. I haven’t done ftd in a very long time. And I was surprised tbh. We had some good drivers at the event, and Liam Brooks came down with his mugen and he was fast also. On the alloy chassis and on rush tyres.
I managed to grab the tq spot but didn’t have one quali run. I either made a minor mistake, caught the tape or a bump or had a bodyshell tuck. And it seems to be the theme with me recently. I tried some other tyres, some hudy tyres. Reports were that they would be fast. But my car felt broken on them, I had no rear and grip and the car just felt loose. So back to my trusty contacts and the car just gripped and went.
Many ask how I get my tyres to work so well, and it’s plenty of prep with them. I put so much effort and work in to ensure they work well. I choose my additives well and just go from there. It’s all about research and some understanding.
The final was my best run, able to break away from the pack and just pump in the laps. Others can beat the fastest lap but when you can’t do it consistently that’s where the problem lies.
I also got to help others out which is mega especially when they get quicker because of it.
One more race meeting of the year and before Santa arrives so I’ll be prepping harder for that. I have two wins so far and hoping to make it three to put myself in a good position
Until then thanks for reading
