Schumacher winter series round 2 23/24

The build to the event has been mega. Nearly 60 entries for the events is just amazing. But my own build up was less then desired. Having my anxiety build up when swapping esc over, have an esc go pop on me for no reason a new car I was unsure of how it would go. Plenty tbh

So Sunday was a 6am start at the venue. Due to not being able to get in the night before. So it was a super early morning, and we had to roll out carpet, unload a trailer and setup a rostrum and lay a track.

This happened quick and by 7:30am we had a venue that looked mega. Knocked it out the park.

The track

So it looked the nuts and the pits filled up. I got my race gear ready and off we went. Anxious due to this being the debut of my x4 24, and I had changed esc for this event too.

Once on the track the car was dialled, it took me a few laps but bang it was on fire.

Q1 came and the car felt different as if the balance had changed in the car. I couldn’t carry mass speed in the fast last section, as the car seemed to diff out. But I was able to tq the run

Q2 I got the car on the gauges and again same sort of issues but some I could drive around. Another tq run. I changed the top deck flex to make the car more stable

Q3 I had some help from Wayne ash, who helped me prep the car and also fit the electrics. My rear roll bar was moving, so nipped right and off we go again. Better but not mega. Only a driving error would stop another tq and a 4th in round due to a body tuck

Q4 change of shock oil to stop the weight transfer and the car was better but not wanted. I was starting to worry, I got the tq in this run but by only fractions.

Before the final we had a power cut twice in the hall. Everyone was worrying about us finishing the event. Luckily we did, after a little bit of sorting out.

So before the final I prepped my tyres, got my batteries sorted the best I could as everyone just wanted to get batteries charged and the power to keep going. my car went to gauges and I thought about checking my diff. Good thing I did as the diff was empty

And it lead me to hope this was the issue I had been having. It’s normally my go to if the car isn’t tractioning correctly

Onto the final and it was a good start 3rd place of Joe Cocking, caught Alex in 2nd and that gave me breathing room. The car was instantly better but I feel maybe a little too understeer now. I had a good gap til I made on mistake, I got lucky and turned the right way. But I had Dan Burks on my tail, I was able to withstand the pressure for a handful of laps. Dan made a mistake and I gave the corners a wide birth to ensure I didn’t give this lead away.

Overall the car was mega in the final, with room for improvement. Tq and win on debut couldn’t be happier. The help of got from Wayne ash in the week was mega and helped me feel prepared and ready. So now it’s a case of maintain this car and go ahead. The next meeting is club day due to the nature of the club and it’s time table. It looks like it will be an open tyre so maybe some tyre testing for the club for the future

So that’s it for now more detailed approach here, hopefully a good read
