Silly goat summer championship round 6

So round six of the Silly goat summer series championship took place only yesterday…… I know a blog post a day later!!

So I headed into the race meeting with nothing to lose. I’d taken the championship in the five rounds I’d completed. Taking every round of qualifying in the process. I had a wife and child free weekend too, so was able to finish prep Friday evening. I made a big change to my car on my shock package. I went with the expensive pss shock setup. Which a piston is forced through a insert sleeve causing progressive dampening. I heard good things but thought I’d finally try.

Practice was solid and the car was consistent but didn’t seem fast. I changed bodyshell as the track was more technical. Q1 was solid and the car felt faster, more grip put down. But it just didn’t feel as fast as I’d like.

Q2 I made a bodyshell change again, to a zoo racing wolverine. This had initial front steering and rotated lovely, but it highlighted how soft my car was. due to my shock setup I didn’t have thicker oil, given what I’m use to running.

Q3 I changed bodyshell again to the twister speciale which is a shell I’ve used all season. It had side bite and steering and just worked really well.

Q4 It finally fell apart for me. A body tuck early doors (lap 2) then another couple meant I didn’t have a solid run. P11 overall so I was a little on the back foot for the final

Final time. I got a small gap, but Joe Cocking in Schumacher was catching. I was fast but not as fast as him, my bodyshell seemed low in the back and it wasn’t helping but wasn’t massively slowing me down. He caught me. Then we I caught some tape went under a corner and he got through. We caught a back marker who sat in the middle of tbe road, rolled me over. We got half a lap then Joes car spun and I got back through to then pump laps to the finish. Joe got caught by the same back marker another couple of times.

So I took six rounds of this championship missing two. As I can’t do the final round. So it’s back to the prep for me. And back to see what I can get sorted. Things to think about before my next meeting

Until then thanks for reading
