It’s been a while since my last blog post. Life has been a little busy and I’ve only done a couple of races since
The first was a trip to Newark rc club. I had some time off from work so got prepped and went to the newark club. They run the same carpet as my local Louth, but with more regular use the grip is higher. They have an open tyre rules so is strapped on some sorex 28 tyres I still had an went for it
Given the way their club works I didn’t have a practice session. Mainly as it isn’t very long and mixed abilities could kill the car.
So I went into the race 1 not sure, for a start I needed some warm up laps to see how the car was. I made a mistake in the early couple of laps. But then got in the groove and was able to overtake and take the win. I gained confidence in the car, and took all the qualifying heats. In some cases two laps up on the next car
The final I was away with a nice gap, even making mistakes I was still able to have half a lap lead. I keep giving myself rear body tucks which is annoying. But I took the w. I didn’t change my car that evening as the time between rounds wasn’t a lot and I tried to help my mate who I went with
So onto the next meeting which was the next instalment of the silly goat championship at Louth. One I would need to win to take the championship, also with me missing the final round it was quite crucial. I knew my mate Joe could win but he needed to win the rest of the meetings.
The car was just solid from the start to finish. I still find myself lacking slower speed steering. I had changed the front roll bar to go softer and the csr had more but I do believe I lack some front end. Looking at changing shell for the next one. As I’m able to push with my current setup and do the laps needed.
Overall I took four qualifying runs and the single legged final. On a side note I raced the mardave class taking all qualifying and the finals in that also. So overall very good. I took the championship with two rounds to spare which is good considering I’m missing a couple.
The car is prepped and ready for the next meeting and I’ve made a big change to see if I can improve the car. My issue is I’ve not changed the car slot from winter time. And need to find a little more for when more drivers do attend the winter events.
I get the same old, which is drivers who can do laps at my pace but.not over five mins. So I need to find small improvements
But for now I’m prepped and ready, and until the next one
