Schumacher winter series round 3

So I’ve had a long time since I’ve been able to blog. This period of time from the last race meeting I’ve been super busy.

Once again I’ve prepared a car for a mate. I’ve spent many hours, preparing a car for him. But I wasn’t happy with how it came out. So I had to sort my spare car for him to use.

With doing this I left my car til late in the day to prepare. I prepared my car the best I could. But I have a tweak issue, but I’ve managed to race through it. But more recently I’ve noticed it more.

So I showed up bright and early to the race meeting. Setup and was prepared. The track was quite fast, a little technical but nothing too much. So I went out practice thinking my car would be quite good. But it wasn’t as hooked as I expected. Alex Brocklebank who seems to be my championship rival but good friend, his car seemed to be hooked. And I could see him taking time out of me.

I couldn’t get the power down. So I decided for round one to make a change. I went to a different bodyshell. I went from the extreme twister to the twister speciale. Every time I’ve ran this the car is has more rear traction. I expected this to help, but I didn’t feel in many aspects it to be any better. I made a mistake rolled over some track. And landed in front of a dad who was watching his son in the race. He waited then got my car so I could get going. I feel his wait was intentional, but I was able to get back going just behind his son, pass and then pull a gap.

So back to the pits knowing there was time for improvement. So I made three changes, back to the bodyshell I prefer for our club which is the xtreme twister og. I then changed to some softer hubs giving me more traction and went to some older tyres.

So q2 started and I didn’t have the pace I thought I may have. I was faster that was a guarantee. I made one slight mistake, but later in the run my pace would ramp up. I missed out on tq by 8ths of a second. It was close. Q3 I went out with the same setup, I was closer to Alex from the off. And then he made a mistake, big enough for me to take the lead. I had two options which was to keep pushing. The time was faster by 3 seconds. So going into the last round I needed tq. I left my car as it was working wel. From the off it was good. Alex made the mistake and I knew if I kept it clean I had tq. I tapped a corner and my bodyshell tucked. But I was still putting in the good times. And unsure who was watching to pop it out. I got tq, and with that took the top qualifier position for the finals

One less final, so a loss of time to prepare. My car was checked and ready to go. I put my car down, drove to the line. Half the lap at some speed then I took it slow to the line. The buzzer went, but my car didn’t. So I couldn’t even contest the final. All that work gone. I’m unsure on the reason why.

It could be down to my esc or motor. So a new hall sensor has been ordered.

So where do I go from here. The chance of winning this championship is getting smaller. I need perfection from the rounds I can do. As my wife and I are expecting our first child in January. My car is being reprepped, bulkheads swapped out. Apart from that the setup is good and it’s fast

So you win some and lose some. My package is great if I can prep it well. Thanks for reading if anyone does
