Newark club night

So I had a week off to celebrate my birthday. Had an amazing week, so decided to end it with a trip to Newark. I raced last at there at the emc and my car was amazing but missed a little low speed steering.

So I decided to go again, and try a few things. Running the old xray x4 22, with the new xray x4 23 shocks. I also wanted to try the new soft upper arms. These giving more side bit and traction.

I got there in good time, and helped setup. Didn’t do the frantic practice session, but was confident with my car. First race the car was weird, braking traction in areas and being super twitchy. I was able to tq the first run, second run I changed bodyshell and took out the front flex screw. Again the car was better the grip just felt weird. The twister speciale shell was better but the car just felt weird. Made mistakes I wouldn’t normally, so finished down the order. Q3 the diff seemed to weep, or it was the new shocks I’d built incorrect. Lap one corner one, bang in q3 I broke the rear hub. I had been running harder contact a30 tyres, compared to 28’s to everyone else on 28 compounds.

I think the hall was cold and lacking grip. So for the final I made a tyre change. To some 28’s. The car felt better but not connected still. I picked off the 2nd place car, got onto the back of the leader. Made a move but connected so I waited. A lap later he made a mistake which I collected him, and I went on. Expecting to pull ahead, I couldn’t. The others said they had loads of grip, but I didn’t. I won the final, fastest lap, but left with a lot of questions.

So the car is having a full rebuild, and a few new parts. Louth is a week from this post and I want to win or at least put in a better performance then last time. I’m going back to the kit upper arms, older shocks. And kit hubs. Just to see if I can make progress.

It’s a last throw of the dice. I have this and one more meeting before my life will change 🙂 and for the better

Again my package from my sponsors and support was awesome. I just need to prep better and drive better

Until the next one
